This collection contains photographic negatives of early motion picture celebrities, including Lionel Barrymore, Jackie Coogan and Al Jolson. Many of these negatives are signed by the celebrities and were probably used to make publicity photographs.

Patsy Ruth Miller, a silent film actress and a writer, was born in 1905 in St. Louis, Missouri. From 1920 to 1933 she appeared in over eighty films. In 1933 she retired from performing in films and began writing plays, short stories and screenplays, and in 1939 she wrote a novel with a Hollywood background.
